How to Find the Last Item in Clean the Supermarket

Cannot find the last item in Clean the Supermarket? It may not have spawned yet. Here is why items appear mid-round, plus a sweep order for the spots where strays actually end up.

How to Find the Last Item in Clean the Supermarket

Every Clean the Supermarket player hits this wall: the counter is one item short of a finished shelf, the floor looks clear, and you have walked the aisle three times.

Before you start searching harder, read the next section — most of the time the item is not hidden.

It probably has not spawned yet

Items do not all exist at the start of a round. As you pick things up and shelve them, more items appear out of the floor. You can watch it happen: an item pops into existence partway through a round, sometimes still half-clipped into the ground before it settles.

This is the single most useful thing to know about the endgame, because it changes what you should do. If you cannot find the last item for a shelf, the correct move is usually not to search — it is to go and clear something else for a minute, then come back. Shelving other items is what makes the missing one appear.

So the order of operations is:

  1. Note which shelf is short.
  2. Go clear a different aisle for a couple of minutes.
  3. Come back and look again.

That alone resolves most one-item stalls.

Then use the Price Scanner

If the item has spawned and you still cannot see it, stop using your eyes and use the ability. The Price Scanner highlights every item identical to the one you are looking for, anywhere in the store. That is exactly the endgame problem — one specific product, hidden in a room with 1603 objects in it.

Pick up any copy of the item type you are missing, trigger the scanner, and the remaining copies light up. If you have no copy in hand, the X-Ray ability works from the other direction: it highlights the correct shelf for whatever you are holding, which tells you fast whether the thing in your hands is the stray you have been hunting.

Where strays actually end up

With both abilities unavailable, sweep in this order. Items are physics objects, so they roll, get kicked by other players, and slide into places your eyes skip.

  1. Along the base of the shelves. Drop your camera low and sweep the floor line of the aisle. Round items — tins, fruit, bottles — collect here more than anywhere else. Aisle 7 Produce is the worst offender, since loose fruit and vegetables roll the moment they spawn.
  2. The far ends of long aisles. Aisles 7 Produce, 11 Dairy and 12 Beverages run out to shelf letters like 7K, 11I and 12L. The far end of a long run is outside most people's walking route.
  3. Under and behind fixtures. Anything kicked toward a counter or a freezer unit ends up in a pocket you can only see from one angle.
  4. The walls and corners. Circle the outside of the store once, hugging the wall.

The other case: it is on the wrong shelf

If the room is genuinely empty, the item is not lost — it is placed incorrectly, either by you an hour ago or by a teammate. A misplaced item does not count as correctly stocked, but it also does not look like mess.

The shortcut is to work backwards. The empty slot tells you which product is missing, so look that product up and then check the aisles it is most likely to have been mistaken for:

  • Colour and flavour variants are the usual culprits, because they look right at a glance. A red Cup Ramen sitting in the yellow Cup Ramen slot reads as "done" until you look twice.
  • Aisles 1 and 2 are both Cans, and aisles 3 and 4 are both Snacks, so cross-check the pair.
  • Aisle 11 Dairy and aisle 12 Beverages are full of similar cartons.
  • Aisle 6 Baking hides mistakes well, because Flour, Sugar, Powdered Sugar and Cornstarch all look alike on a shelf.

Our Item Locator gives you the aisle for any confirmed item, and the common item mistakes guide lists the pairs that get swapped most.

Stop losing items in the first place

  • Finish a shelf before moving on. Strays happen when you wander mid-aisle.
  • Carry a batch from one aisle at a time. It means fewer trips, and it is also the only way to get value out of the Auto Stacker, which matches on aisle category rather than exact product.
  • Buy the Price Scanner early. The endgame search is the problem it was designed for, and buying it late means doing the hard version of every aisle first.
